Support hit me today. Like a freight train, the weight of how much money I needed to raise attacked the very base of my faith. Then I heard this song on my way to an interview. Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me. All that I hath needed your hand has provided. I was immediately comforted. I had recently read Matthew 6, the scriptures were like a blanket on a cold day. If God takes care of the birds, why not me? God is great!! How I love to rest in His presence and His will. I encourage all of you to listen to this song and read Matthew 6, especially if support is an upcoming or current issue.

II Corinthians 4:5: For we don't preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake;

So quick now a days we label ourselves. Calvinist, Arminian, Reformed, etc., etc. I almost feel as if that is how some introduce themselves to others. "Hi I am John Arminian Charismatic Doe." Attending college has opened my eyes to a new world of theology and big words. I recently took a step back and relaxed in the simplicity of God. I feel as if I have gotten caught up in what I am, or rather what my label is. This is scary, it is very easy to fall in. Getting caught up in theology and only theology is dangerous. Recently at APEX, pastor spoke on depression. More importantly he talked about three types of people. Heart, Mind, Will. The heart being those that are led by the heart, are very into emotional services, but when things get tough they fall out. The Mind being theology and knowledge. These people are all about theology. Theology jokes, talks, it consumes their lives. The will being those that just want to live a good life and go to church.

None of these by themselves are good, but altogether have potential to be one God glorifying person. I haven;t found my balance, but it is important to seek. This verse spoke a lot to me on this topic. I don't want to preach myself, or my theology, but rather Christ and Him alone.

A recent trip to Cafe Istanbul produced much fruitful conversation, one topic that peaked my interest is tithing. I have always heard the old 10% rule, but is this just a guideline, or is here other biblical truths in this matter?

I first must confess, I am probably the least to speak on this subject. I have never tithed with any regularity, or with any joy, or perception of what tithing really is. The past few days and through starting to raise support, I have been convicted of my lack of obedience in this area and my lack of knowledge also. I would like to hopefully shed light on the subject, because as I found out in Cafe Istanbul, it is not cut and dry as I was first led to believe in my upbringings.

Genesis 14:20-and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. Abram gave him a tenth of all.

So first we see here a precedent set. 10% of our earnings should go to the Lord. This is probably the most common misconception about tithing.

II Corinthians 8:3-For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,

We see here that we should give with joy. So what are we to follow? A few point to think about....

1. We are to give with joy.

2. Tithing is not necessarily restricted to the church. Tithing is giving to God. If your heart is in missions and in a particular organization where you spend a lot of your time and a lot of time is invested in you, then give there.

3. 10% is not the absolute. When we tithe it should be joyfully and with a heart of thanksgiving for what we do have. If God calls you to give all of your money, then do so, if 50% do so, but do all in a heart of joyfullness.

4. All is God's. God gave us what we have. Who are we to be so stingy with it?

5. The question is not how much should I tithe, but rather, how mch should I not tithe.

6. Give in Faith. Faith that He will provide, even if you just gave everything you had.

Greetings from Ohio and Indiana!!!

Hey everyone. I have been seriously on the move the past few weeks. It all started on an adventure to A.T. For all you civilians thats annual training for the army. Its two weeks long. Oh wow what a draining time!!! On top of not being around a group of believers all summer, this really drained me spiritually. There is only one christian that I know of in the whole company and everyone else is in love with alcohol. For the first week it was really tough cause I got a lot of pressure to do things that would not be pleasing to Christ, but then slowly I gained some respect towards the end. It was long on top of that because I hadn't seen Jennifer for a week before so it had been a long time since we had seen each other by the end of the trip. As far as the training goes..... I got to operate a Hyex, Front-end Loader, Roller, 5-ton dump truck, 20-ton dump truck, and learned how to drive a M920 (very big semi truck). So that was good. I got a piece of metal in my eye a couple days before we left. That hurt and they had to use a drill to get it out. I almost passed out when they were doin it. I was still awake when they did it. Anyways...... Now after two weeks of playing Army Jennifer and I went to cleveland so she could meet my family and go to an indians game. Everything went well there. My family loves her. At the game I seriously thought about calling matt like he did me and announce Jenn and I's "engagement" NOT REAL!!! but I decided not to. I know Matt wuld give me a talk on patience. Which I greatly appreciate and need to hear just about everyday. Now today I am going on a three day camping trip with a college group from Jenn's church. Then next weekend on the crusade trip. I just want to stop and chill for a little bit. Daggon!!! I can't wait to see bobby. I had a dream about him coming home during a.t. If you didn't get the subtle hint I really miss him. I just can;t wait till school starts so I can get back with everyone. You don't realize how close you are to some people until you have parted from them. Well time to go camping.

Summer, Summer, Summer

Hey everybody!!!

Yes its been awhile. Oh Well. God has used this summer to humble me in many ways!!!! I am awestruck by His magnifisence and how much He has brought me through in this past months. I had been struggling through June. Spiritual Drought of the highest!!! I couldn't keep my attention on Him at all!!! I was so frustrated yet every time I would go back I would fall away within hours. I say this not because I want you all to know that I am really weak,(well yes) but to show you that God moves on hose that haven fallen. He as brought me o a u-turnin the road and has moved in my prayer and study of the word in tremendous ways. I feel like the spirit just kind of cracked me on the head and yelled at me to get my butt in gear. So I did. Things have been going so awesome this summer outside of my quiet times. (Which are now filled with the Holy Spirit and awesome) I started discipling Trey (Jennifer's younger brother). He is open to studying the bible and has been amazing to work with and teach. Well I guess I am not teaching anything, rather God is using me as an instrument. Anyway that has been great! Jeenifer and I are doing well. Love has been in the air, on our minds, and in the Bible is where we found it. We studied love on the way back from columbus on the fourth. It was awesome!!!! I really enjoy my discussions and studies with Jenn on the bible. I always gain a lot and I know she also learn a whole lot. She is an amazing woman of God and i could not ask for anything better. God has definetely had His hand on us. Everything else is great!!! I will be posting a study on being a Leader...especially in the church. This will come piece by piece and bit by bit as I look over it. I am not sure where this idea came from, but God took it and He did his own thing with it. Hopefully that will be up soon.

Camp Perry

Drill Again!!!! Well the weekend did not start off so well. I forgot my jacket and my wet weather top. Luckily it didn't rain, but man was it freakin cold. Everybody drank on the way up to the base, so by the time we got up there a majority of the unit was trashed or on the way to being there. That is the reason I hate drill so much. It is so draining not to have any believers to lean on and to be around all that stuff wears me down quick. Saturday was rather boring. I shot a 28 out of 40. We only needed a 26 to pass so I am happy to have jumped that hurdle. I am definetely not the best marksman so qualifying is a big relief to me. Saturday night turned out really well. I met up with Chris Newman, who is in second platoon and in Crusade at Miami University. We had a good chat about all kinds of good stuff. it really helped me to get through that night and the next day. Sunday we packed up and left. I went to Jenn's that night which was great. i hadn't got to talk to her all weekend so it was good to get some time with my "other half" I always feel like something is missing when she is not around so it was great to spend some time with her. Grandma Booney said that I looked "sharp" in my uniform. That made me smile. Today is monday and I caught a cold from being outside all weekend without a jacket. UUUGGGhhhh. a few reasons I am excited: 1. The Bobby Fleck is staying at my apartment tonight. i am sure a good theological debate will ensue.

2. God is continually blessing me in innumerous ways and I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

3. Saturday is the "apron" date. Jenn and I like to cook a lot. (not very good at it, but it is a work in progress) We are going to make aprons to protect our clothes and to just have a lot of fun. This idea can be attributed to, in part, to Jason Walters. This date is going to be so sweet I am super excited!!!!

4. I am saved by grace and know i have an eternal home!!! What better to be excited about.

I just want you all to know that Jennifer Bonny is an amazing woman!!!!!! I am truly blessed and would even root for the bengals if it came down to the nitty gritty!!! (I hope is does not!! Go Browns) I pray that every guy would find their "Jenn Bonny"
